Another Extra Feature: Hope, Love and Gracie

Our extra feature this week is 6-year-old Gracie Purdum.  Gracie has a high-grade thalamic glioma (inoperable brain tumor), has already endured 6 weeks of aggressive radiation & chemotherapy treatment, and is now in the next phase of treatment.

The newest treatment includes three different kinds of chemo (2 oral and 1 via IV).  She has 2 weeks of oral treatment and travels every other week from her home in Dayton, Ohio to receive the IV chemo at St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.  Each trip includes 10-hour travel time and a Sunday-Wednesday stay.

This is an indefinite course of treatment, along with intense physical therapy, so please pray for Gracie and her family and take the time to visit her Caringbridge page to learn more about her progress.  Gracie is also one of our Operation Smile children and would love to receive a cheerful card from you!

Let’s keep spreading the word about Gracie and all of our feature children in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

**If you know a child that would like to be featured, please let us know at or on our Facebook page**
